Less Is More!

I just came across this article  "Tiny Wisdom:  When Less is More",  it has served as a reminder that in life, less is more. This also reminds me of a proverb that has stuck with me; "Don't use a lot where a little will do." You can apply this philosophy to your health and fitness, we all know that super sizing meals is out and over indulging at meal time is a fault.  If we eat less we are closer to realizing our weight loss and health goals.  Similarly with your workouts, don't put pressure on yourself to join the most expensive gym, wear flashy clothes, use fancy equipment and top notch accessories. Going for an organic run in my old college sweats and knocking out some push ups at home is  less time consuming than going to the gym, it is simple yet worthwhile and invigorating.  Have less, do more and you will be more!  I'm not suggesting that the gym is a waste of time, I love the gym!  However, in exercise, in life and in general - less is more!

Don't Just Think It - Ink It!

It is that time of year when the gym is packed and people keep asking me what my New Year's resolutions are.  The New Year is a great time to evaluate your life, put things into perspective, plan for the future and set goals.  Several years back I read an anonymous quote about goals; "Write it down.  Written goals have a way of transforming wishes into wants; cant's into cans; dreams into plans; and plans into reality.  Don't just think it- ink it!".  Ever since I read this quote, I have taken the time to write my goals down - I write S.M.A.R.T goals, an acronym I learned while at University.  S.M.A.R.T goals require your goals to be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time sensitive.  There is certainly a correlation between writing goals down and attainability, if you haven't already done so, write down your S.M.A.R.T goals for 2013.  When 2014 roles around, I hope that by achieving your goals, you will have become a stronger, healthier person in mind body and spirit.
