This thanksgiving enjoy time with your family and friends. Don't let the holidays get you off track, make an effort to avoid junk food and try not to overeat!  Remember the ultimate purpose of food and drink;  eat to live rather than live to eat! Don't eat too much and stay away from the foods and drinks that are unhealthy for you.  While most Americans tend to gain a few pounds over the holiday season, I challenge you to lose a few!  Here are a few helpful hints for Thanksgiving day: Maintain your usual eating schedule, don't skip meals - although in anticipation of a celebratory feast at dinner, eat a bit less at breakfast and lunch.  Don't skip your workout.  Eat only one desert.  Don't go for seconds. Make sure your plate is full of color, I mean green not red!  Watch your alcohol intake.  Give thanks, eat well and be well!

Improving Fitness With Jade of Spades




Congratulations to those of you who have been playing Jade of Spades.  Jade of Spades is a very simple, efficient and effective way to exercise and burn a ton of calories.  Use it as a warm-up prior to your regular exercise routine, or combine it as part of your entire work-out program.  For example,  an entire work-out program could include a warm up with a half deck of the Cardio Strength program,  followed by a half deck of the Core Series, followed by a full deck of the Leg Workout.  Many users love  Jade of Spades because it is a fast and easy way to workout anywhere with no equipment, making it perfect for use at home and while traveling.  

My favorite work-out routine is the Total Body, although most users appear to prefer the Core Series, which focuses on the abdominals while including some cardio.  Jade of Spades is more like a game than a work-out, challenging you with an intense yet fun work-out each time you play. Many users love the randomness of the routine, as well as the ability to make it easier or more difficult by skipping the rest cards.  I love when I run into someone who has realized weight loss, strength gains, and muscle tone by playing Jade of Spades. It also makes my day just to know I am providing a tool to help everyone with their health and fitness.  I encourage beginners to play too, the App is designed to challenge everyone.

Live In The Moment, Live Longer & Stress Less!


This past year I have been dealing with an incredible amount of stress.   Stress has significant implications on our health.  I try to manage stress by embracing one day and one thought at a time.  This is not always easy.  I often use exercise and yoga as stress relievers - boxing in particular is great for stress release and anger management!  I have discovered that when I am able to quiet my mind and focus on one thought I feel relived. One of my yoga instructors talks adamantly about living in the moment and having only one thought at a time.  He says this is very difficult to  achieve  and only a few people do it well all of the time.   At the end of the day I find peace and ease of mind when I remember that life is short and we shouldn't sweat the small stuff!  

Stress has been called "the silent killer."  It has been linked to several illnesses including heart disease and high blood pressure. I found a list of 41 random facts about stress. After reading that list I may have to move to a new city and find a new job - take a look, but don't let it stress you out!


The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.
