Hotel Workout Routine - Pool Side in Jamaica!


I'm celebrating Christmas in Jamaica with my family. Due to the sudden passing of my sister Rebecca, a few months ago, this is a unique and difficult holiday for my family. Nonetheless I'm still prioritizing my health and fitness - I typically have the best workouts while on vacation! Today's workout with my sister Keris, (while my brother swims laps in the pool) focuses on total body plus cardio!

Pool Side Hotel Workout

10 squat thrusts
10 push ups
10 V-ups
Repeat routine 10 times

6 Tips for a Healthy Holiday Season


The holiday season is approaching, which means parties and holiday events, which also means lots of drinking and eating!  There is nothing wrong with a glass of wine every now and then as long as you don't go overboard. Here are a few tips for drinking and eating healthy this holiday season.

1. Balance!  If you have a glass of wine make sure you also have a glass of water - stay hydrated.
2. Don't overboard. Limit yourself to 1 or 2 drinks. You will thank yourself later.
3. Don't go hungry! You may eat a lot more unhealthy than anticipated if you arrive hungry.
4. Stay away from sugary cocktails. Opt for vodka with seltzer water instead.
5. Go vegetarian for the night! Typically vegetarian choices are healthier. Your options will be limited so you won't eat as much. 
6. Sip your drinks. Don't gulp!

Jade & Tiny Talk Health & Fitness


Last night I went to Clifford Harris (T.I) and Tameka Harris' (Tiny) screening for their new reality TV show. VH1 and Akoo Clothing hosted the event at Yotel, in New York City. I had a great conversation with Tiny about health and fitness.  She talked about their kids interest in sports and how she encouraged them to continue playing sports. It was great to see T.I and Tiny support their kids' healthy lifestyles. It is important that parents take an active role in their kids lives - particularly the health and fitness aspect!

Holiday Travel: How to Beat Jet Lag


It's holiday season and the traveling begins. Many of my clients have been questioning jet lag! What is the best way to beat jet lag? As a fitness professional I strongly agree that exercise does help! Exercise before your flight to help reduce any stress. Rather than sit uncomfortably during flights create your own mini exercise routine and stretch!

Check out these inflight exercises to help prevent jet lag. My favorite inflight stretch - Eagle arms! When arriving at your destination exercise, even though you may not feel like working out. Jet lag can take two or three days to hit you, so working out as early as possible is a great idea.
