Congrats to everyone that participated in the ING Marathon. Kudos to everyone that finished! Running a marathon is truly a tough competition. Although I did not run in the marathon I was able to support a friend and a client who both finished the marathon. After the race I had the chance to speak with my client about his experience in his first ever marathon.
After the 22nd mile he started to cramp. Upon hearing this I asked him if at any point he wanted to stop. He told me that it was a lot more physically and mentally challenging than he had anticipated. He was determined to finish even if he had to walk.
It is important that we challenge ourselves. We should all find an event or activity that will challenge us to go beyond your limits. I challenged myself to boxing. Being in the ring was the most intense most physical activity I have ever had to do. I had 3 standing 8 counts against me in one of my boxing fights. My vision was blurry and I felt dizzy, I decided it was ok to lose the fight by decision but not by a knockout. In a true mind over matter moment I told myself to stay standing I would not get knocked out. Always look to challenge yourself, strive for greatness no matter what your challenge may be, a marathon, triathlon, or even boxing!
